Palmerston North · Manawatū
Independent advice on life, health and income protection insurance, KiwiSaver, and home loans, from an adviser based in central Palmerston North. We are not owned by a bank or an insurer, so the recommendation you get is the one that actually fits you. The first conversation is free.
Local & Independent
Mutual Solutions Limited is a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FSP729871) based on Broadway Avenue in central Palmerston North. Upmeet Sodhi (FSP250405) is the adviser you deal with, start to finish. There is no call centre, no handover to a processing team, and no script.
That matters more than it sounds. Personal insurance is one of the few things you buy hoping never to use it, and the value shows up years later at claim time. Having one adviser who knows your file, remembers why the cover was structured the way it was, and answers the phone when something goes wrong is the difference between a policy that works and a policy that merely exists.
We are independently owned, so we are not aligned with any bank or insurer. We compare cover across the New Zealand market and get paid the same regardless of which insurer you end up with, which removes the obvious conflict.

What We Advise On
Most people come to us for one thing and end up getting the whole picture looked at. Insurance, KiwiSaver, and a mortgage all pull on the same household budget, so it rarely makes sense to advise on one while ignoring the others.
Protection
Life & trauma cover
Cover that clears the mortgage and keeps your family going. We compare the market and model stepped versus level premiums properly.
Income
Income protection
Replaces up to 75% of your income if illness or injury stops you working. Particularly important if you are self-employed.
Health
Health insurance
Private cover so you are not waiting on a public list. We compare policies and excess structures to fit a real budget.
Retirement
KiwiSaver advice
Fund choice, contribution rate, and making sure you actually collect the full government contribution each year.
Lending
Home loans
First home buyers, refinancing, and self-employed borrowers. We work across multiple lenders rather than one bank.

Who We Work With
Manawatū is not Auckland, and the advice should not pretend otherwise. Household budgets, property prices, and the mix of self-employed and salaried work here all shape what sensible cover actually looks like.
01
Young families with a new mortgage. Usually the first serious look at insurance. The priority is making sure the mortgage does not become the surviving partner's problem, without over-insuring to the point the premium becomes unaffordable and gets cancelled in two years.
02
Self-employed and contractors. No sick leave, no employer cover, and often no ACC top-up beyond the minimum. Income protection structured correctly matters far more here than it does for salaried employees, and it is the cover most often set up wrong.
03
People whose premiums have jumped. A very common reason people call us. Sometimes the fix is restructuring to level premiums, sometimes it is adjusting the excess or sum insured, and sometimes the honest answer is that the existing policy is already good and should be kept.
04
Anyone who has never had their KiwiSaver looked at. Default funds, wrong contribution rate, or missing the annual government contribution entirely. These are small, boring fixes that compound into real money over 20 or 30 years.
What Clients Say
Reviews from real clients on our Google Business Profile. We would rather you read these than take our word for it.
"We had requested a rationalisation of our insurance policies due to a change in circumstances. We were rather apprehensive but Upmeet was very reassuring — thorough, sound advice, and connected with our insurers directly."
Sharon Wards · Google Review
"There were administrative issues with my major medical claim, and Upmeet helped me tremendously to resolve them — even while he was at a conference overseas. That meant a lot to me at a difficult time."

Common Questions
Where is your Palmerston North office?
Level 2, 26 Broadway Avenue, in the centre of town. You are welcome to come to us, or we can meet at your home, your workplace, or over video call. Get in touch →
Do I have to live in Palmerston North to work with you?
No. We are based here and see a lot of Manawatū clients in person, but we advise clients right across New Zealand. Phone and video work fine for most of the process.
Are you an insurance broker or a financial adviser?
Technically a licensed Financial Advice Provider. In practice we do what most people mean by "insurance broker" for personal cover: compare life, trauma, income protection and health insurance across the market and arrange it for you. We do not arrange house, car, or commercial fire and general insurance.
What does the advice cost?
Nothing to you. We are paid a commission by the insurer or lender if you proceed, and we disclose exactly how we are paid before you commit to anything. See our disclosure statement →
Are you tied to a bank or insurer?
No. Mutual Solutions is independently owned and not aligned with any bank or insurer, so there are no quotas or in-house products to push. Why independence matters →
A free 30-minute conversation with an independent adviser. No pressure, no obligation, and a clear picture of where you actually stand.
